With 2009 coming to close, I want to look back on the Resolutions I made for the year.
1. Become more in control of my Finances
- I have moved my Loan for my car into my own name, and paid off ALL other credit cards
2. Be accountable for my own Savings
- My savings is almost non-existent, that is something I really need to continue to work on
3. Cook at home more, prepare food for lunches for Greg and I
- I defiantly did a great job with this! I made a lot of new dishes and kept up on grocery shopping and cooking.
4. Manage my time better
- I have accomplished this and made time for a lot of new things
5. Become healthier, both physically and mentally
- In many ways I have done this. I am very happy and continuing with becoming more physically healthy
6. Take classes that interest me
- I took 16 weeks of Baking / cake decorating classes and also joined a book club
7. Do more charitable things, donate my time
I can do more in this area, and I have some goals for 2010 in this aspect of my life
8. Plan a vacation for Greg and I (not wedding in FL)
We did not go to the Florida wedding, we did go to Florida with my parents and little sisters instead. We also made it to Boston for a couple of days.

December, O how I love thee!
I am in a great mood, it is the holiday season! I love it! I love to see all the decorations, the Christmas music on the radio, the hustle and bustle. To me, this is my favorite time of year.
I have almost completed all of my holiday shopping and it is ALL wrapped up! I just need to finish shopping for my husband. He is the hardest person to shop for at times, because he tends to buy what he likes through out the year and changes his mind on what he wants often.
I have started my holiday baking last night and accomplished a good chunk of what I wanted to do! I am going to make plenty of cookies for not only my family, but to give to my church for their holiday dinner. I dropped off 6 platters of cookies for their Thanksgiving dinner and they were a huge hit.
I have decided not to make any official December goals, as I want to really think about what I want to do for the following year with my goals / resolutions. I have enjoyed posting my goals, because although they are not all completed each month, it is a good reminder of what I would like to do and keeps me honest with myself.
So here is the November Goal Recap:
1. Get to the Gym at least 21 days this month
I did not get to the Gym 21 days, but I did do a great deal of working out and eating healthy resulting in losing 8lbs this month! DONE!
2. Make a dent in Christmas Shopping
I didn't make a dent, I almost finished it in November!
3. Ebay! Ebay! Ebay!
Does purchasing gifts off Ebay count? LOL. Not done, I didn't sell anything!
4. Organize Craft Supplies
I am 50 / 50 on this one. I got some done, but not all
5. Read 3 books
Busy month with everything else and I read 1 book.

Up for the Challenge?
Last night I had dinner with 2 girlfriends. One just finished her fifth (I think) 5K. I was impressed and congratulated her. She turned and said to me, "Do the next one with me." I was flabbergasted. I have always admired the people who can do 5K, half and full marathons, never expecting myself to be a part of that crowd. I said that I would seriously think about it, and to let me know the details.
So am I up for the challenge... I hope so! I would like to do it, and think that the motivation to be able to do it will help me continue on my weight loss journey.

On the Hunt
The hunt has begun.
My husband and I have started to browse for a home. We have been renting together for over 3 years and we are looking to make that next step. I have been searching Real Estate listings and sites, and trying to see what our dollar is going to get us on Long Island. We love it here and do not want to leave it, but it is so tempting to move out of state where we could get more for less, (or at least about the same).
We went to 3 homes this weekend for a viewing. If I could have run out screaming from one of them I would have. There are A LOT of great things to be said about someone who rescues Greyhounds, but not for the home they were showing. 3 Dogs, 2 adults and numerous cats in this small location did not go over well on my senses, especially my sense of smell.
We encountered another home where they rented out each individual room to 4 different college students, and let me tell you, they are NOT a clean bunch. The last home was fairly nice, however the asking price exceeded what you were actually getting.
I will continue to look and hunt and send links to my husband. We will find something that is right for us. I just have a feeling it is going to take some time.

Happy Halloween!
I have come to realize I like ALL holidays! I love to hear the music, or just decorate! The pictrue above was created by my hubby, "Thug Kim". LOL
So far I have no plans except for spending time with my little sisters tomorrow. I do not have a costume and I am bummed! Bummed enough, that I might *try* and find one on my lunch today. My home is dressed up (inside) for Halloween. I would do the outside, but we rent and I can not. Boooo! I am sitting at work and listening to a 'spooky Halloween' playlist on my iPod. LOL I can not wait to see what tomorrow brings. Then it is time to take down the Halloween decor and put up the Fall / Thanksgiving items.
I have way too many decorations for individual holidays, and I am a sucker for stores that have Holiday related merchandise. Lately as I have expanded my cooking skills and have been trying lots of new things, I find myself flipping through magazines of holiday food items. I feel like quiet the little housewife.

Wedding Thoughts
Coming up on our First Wedding Anniversary has made me start reminiscing about our wedding day and the process to get there.
Listening to the radio today the DJ was talking about if it is a good idea to live together or not before a couple becomes married.
-My thoughts on this is that I am so happy that we did. Although we are still working some kinks out (but then again what couple doesn't have kinks to work on! LOL), we had really adapted to each other very well before we were married. I think that it is important to know, really know and understand the person that you are making this commitment to.
When we had our 22 month engagement there were people who thought I was crazy for the details that we were putting into the wedding.
-Now finally being done with the whole process and receiving our Wedding Film from Pennylane Productions, I am so happy I didn't listen to a single word that people said. Seeing how everything came together made me so happy.
Although, I am sad that the process of getting married is over, I am so happy to say that we will soon be nearing our First Anniversary. We have had our arguments/disagreements, along the way but nothing that is not able to be fixed. I can not wait to celebrate with Greg and start working towards our second anniversary.

Goals...
Well it is the 16th of September and I have not posted any goals. An oversight on my part. But, I have been doing some things to keep me on the right track.
I have cut down on my late night eating and also have made up fruit and veggie bags to snack on at work. Also I am not carrying cash on me as much as possible to cut back on spending.
Greg and I have booked a small vacation at the end of November with my parents and sisters and I really need to save some money to get myself ready for that trip.

9.11.
It seems like yesterday that it was 9.11. I have such a lasting impression of that day and some of the days that followed. Here is my account of how I found out about the Terrorist Attacks on America. Being 45 minutes outside of NYC, it felt so close to home and very scary.
I worked at Wal-Mart and was just pulling into the the parking lot for work.WBLI cut into a song and said that a 'small plane' has hit one of the towers. I walked in and mentioned it to a few people as I was clocking in.
As I started my job at courtesy desk, the TV's in the store changed from the wal-mart tv (advertisements) to CNN. That is when it seemed like time stopped. Customers were glued, as were associates to the TV's. I stayed through my shift. The fire department came in what seemed like 30 minutes later took ALL of the bottled water in the store as well as batteries and flash lights. The Manager on duty wanted to take inventory of what they were taking but the other associates yelled that it didn't matter.. it seemed to us that it wasn't important what the cost of what they needed was, just that we GIVE it to them. He agreed and we piled things everywhere we could on their trucks and cars heading toward the city.
My mom had a major surgery at Good Sam in Babylon/West Islip the day before, she had some complications and was still in recovery. They moved her to a room because they were prepping for all the people that they were going to be bringing in from the towers.... :forlorn: but no one ever came.

August Goals Recap
1. Spend some more time with my Sister's before they go back to school.
Done!! I spent a good amount of time with my sisters. So far I have taken 1 back to school shopping and still have to take my youngest sister soon.
2. Bake some Vegan options for my friend!
Booo! Never got around to this.
3. Read 4 books (2 personal / 2 book club)
I did read 3 books. (Such a Pretty fat, I'm So Happy For You, and Welcome to Shirley). I am half way through a 4th book.
4. Try some different cooking styles and food options.
Nope.. barely cooked this month.
5. De-clutter and organize the spare room (also known as a dumping ground)
Nope!
This month was just insanely busy for my husband and I. I tried out a second job for the month. The additional 28 hours to my normal 40, just proved to much for me at this point. I am excited to move on to another month and get some new & repetitive goals.

Need Vs. Want
I made an adult decision yesterday. It sucks but I decided that as much as I WANT a new(er) car, I just should wait it out.
My current car is in good shape , and I still owe a bit on the loan. I was going to trade it in and get something newer. But all in all.. Keeping it is not a bad thing. I just put breaks in and had my oil changed. It has no 'major' problems.. it is almost 5 years old. Not too bad.. but this little voice in my head was telling me that I needed a new car.
I decided to keep my car, and pay it off as quick as possible. It is the smart thing to do, and save money towards a house instead.
Growing up stinks sometimes! But I am happy I have a good car and that I can pay it off now.

This blog come to you from...
This blog is coming to you from.... my new 2nd job!
So I would love to keep dreaming that I have enough to live on. I would love to keep dreaming that Greg (my husband) and I can buy a house, on Long Island with the salaries we make. However I needed to be realistic.
I hated selling Tupperware! It just wasn't for me. I made back more than what I originally had to put in for the kit, so that is a blessing. But, I needed a second job, and Greg already has one. I was able to find a job on Craigslist.com that seems to be able to fit into my schedule for now. I am working an additional 27 hours per week to my established full time job. The new job is also in 'real estate'. I am an Office Assistant for the lease office at an apartment complex. Talking about working for 2 different ends of the spectrum! LOL. So my Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons are temporarily gone. Thank goodness summer is half over and I won't feeling like I am missing out... that much.
Keep your fingers crossed for me that I will not get burnt out and the money will start rolling in.

Summer is half over?
Summer is FLYING by! I think all that rain in the beginning really messed with my head!
I Just didn't think it was Summer. It seems like not having a second (part time) job this summer has really helped. It has in no way helped my wallet, but it has helped me enjoy my time. Even though I feel like time is going by way to fast this year, I can honestly say I have had a decent year so far.
I had a bad dentist visit yesterday due to a reaction to some antiseptic, so I was feeling a lot of self pity last night. I started thinking about it though. Really should I let a few hours determine my mood for the rest of the week or month? NO!! I am not pleased at somethings that happen in my life however, I think I need to remember that I have a lot of GOOD in my life.
It seems people let the 'little things' get to them, and ignore the positives.
So as an added goal for the rest of this month, and into the year- I am looking at the positives. There are plenty of them out there, sometimes they are just hidden! I am going to move onward and upwards... Should I add a cheesy yet meaningful song lyric?.... Sure why not!!!
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Oh-no, oh-no, I got to keep on moving
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch the ground
Oh-no, I got to keep on movin'

Ok, I am getting better! I am proud of my accomplishments this past month.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

All Done!
Well I am finished taking all 4 of the Wilton Cake Decoration Classes offered at Michaels.
I am sad to be done. I managed to make it to all 16 classes and definitely learned a lot of new things. A few people have mentioned that I should go into business for myself and make cakes. I really do not think that is something that I would want to make a career out of. I enjoy making them and would not oppose to making them for events and for some extra cash. However I will not be doing this full time.
I did really like the extra course I took in Cookie making. That is something I could see myself doing more often.
Unfortunately my last cake was kind of boring. We had to do a 1 tier cake with some 'fantasy flowers' on top. The picture posted is the flowers that I made on the cake. I will be making a cake this coming month for a friends Birthday, so stay around to see that one!

I have an itch...
And it is not for a baby!
It is the house owning itch. I have been looking at various websites for homes, and scanning the Sunday paper. I know that we are not exactly ready to own our first home... However I have a huge ITCH!!
It seems like we would be better off owning a condo. That is fine with me. I loved living in my mom's condo. I saw a regular home that I loved (online) last night. The price is right for the house that it is. We could do the morgage, but the other expenses that come with a home, is what is killing us right now.
I am just going to keep on saving. We would like to stay on Long Island. That is tough for a first time home buyer. The market isn't bad for now, but it is expensive compared to the rest of the country.

Savings
A few friends and I were talking about saving money and cutting down on spending. I do a few things to cut back on my spending and thought it might be a good idea to share them here.
1. Utilize a Change Jar- I have always had one. I do not offer up change at stores. I let them give me back coin change instead. When they do I put it in my change jar. Along with the coin, if I have bills larger than a dollar bill and only 1 or 2 dollar bills in my wallet, they go in there too.
2. Starbucks Gold Card- I know this seems like a waste when you think of how much Starbucks can be. However I am a Starbucks addict. LOL. I bought the Gold Card, which gives you 10% off every purchase in store. I have save A LOT by using that card every day. (And no I will not give up Starbucks to save money, it is my vice)
3. Coupons- I get the paper every Sunday morning from Starbucks (while I use my 10% off). At my local Starbucks they have a small wire basket for people to throw parts of the paper they do not want in. I take the coupons that are there! LOL
3. Lunch- During the work week, I bring my lunch from home at least 3 days a week. Usually I am able to do this 4 days a week. It saves money and I use left overs and save money on my Lunches. I do go out once a week to have a cheap lunch.
4. Dinners Home- My husband and I have been cooking at home a lot. We make different meals and accept things that my mom makes and sends over. Mom sent me home with a full Chicken Cutlet dinner a few nights ago! No cooking for me, although it was a home cooked meal!
5. Self Mani/Pedi- I have worn acrylic nails for YEARS. I have stopped wearing them a few months ago and save myself $60+ a month. I am doing my own weekly pedicures. I used to love getting my nails done and may start again in the fall or what not, however it is a great savings not to have them done.
6. Gift Cards- I love receiving Gift Cards as presents for myself. I do not mind one bit to get them. When I do not have money to spend but need/want something I will pull out one of them. All of my family and friends know that I love them and don't mind one bit to get them!
7. Credit Cards- I have 2 and they both have NO balance right now. I try to keep it under $100 each. I like to pay them off after I use them. I will not open other cards. I think it is a way of keeping my spending in check.
8. Re-usable Bags- Ok I know that this is a stretch, however it does save. When doing my grocery shopping, I bring my own bags. It saves $.10 a bag used. Why not? It is better for the environment too!
9. Ebay / Garage Sales- I have done both of these things multiple times in order to get some extra money in my pocket. I sell what I can, then donate other items that can not be sold or maybe to bulky or too much for shipping.
10. Library- I am in 2 book clubs, so I go to the library to find the book instead of purchasing it. I also do this with music for my iPod. I really enjoy going there. I go to book stores to read new magazines, instead of buying them sometimes.
Basically it is about finding out what you can do with out, or willing to do with out.

Wilton Fondant and Gumpaste
This is my latest cake in my Wilton Classes. I am currently taking their last class (course 4) Fondant and Gumpaste.
I am super happy with the way that this cake turned out and impressed that I have learned so much through these courses. I would suggest them to anyone who really would like to learn about the cakes and how to make all these different styles.
I would like to learn more on how to make figures and other objects, not just flowers. However Wilton Classes at Michaels only go so far.

Neglect
I have been a bad car owner! My Papa would be disappointed with me!
I had a crack in my windshield for almost 3 weeks now. I have been too lazy to take care of it. By 'take care of it', I mean call my Insurance company and make a claim. LOL. Well I did it today. I am also having my windshield wipers replaced. 1 is so bad that it is flapping the rubber piece in the wind as I drive. My car also needs an oil change and it's breaks checked.
I am not sure why I have been neglecting my car. I love my car! However I have not made the time to get these things done. I am going to get the oil change as soon as possible too. No reason to neglect my car.. it has been good to me for almost 4 years!

Kelly for Tarina Tarantino
My jaw dropped open when I saw this picture. This is Kelly Osbourne (daughter of Ozzy). Whom in the past could be considered a walking disaster.
She looks FANTASTIC, AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL!!! This is an ad for Tarina Tarantino's jewelry collection based on the Wizard of Oz. I have admired Tarina's pieces for about 8 months now. I passed up on a piece a few months back and now I am kicking myself. LOL
Congrats to Kelly for looking stunning in this campaign!
There are a few locations that sell this line of Jewelry including Metro Park at Smithaven Mall. I am looking forward to going to Soho soon so I can visit her boutique there.

Another Reminder-
That life is short.
Sometimes I think I forget that tomorrow is not a promise. The past weeks events of 4 'celebrities' passing away, was a reminder for me. Ed McMahon (86), Farrah Fawcett (62), Micheal Jackson (50), and Billy Mayes (50) passed away this week.
This was a tragic week for those people mentioned, as well as their families. However, this a reminder for me and for everyone that it could end in a moment. I am going to continue to do what is best for me and my Husband/Family/Friends. I plan to not let the little things get to me as much. Also, to really do what makes me smile and makes me happy.

Please don't take my Sunshine Away
I am so tired of the rain, clouds, fog, mist, overcast, cold, and damp weather. I think that is a general complaint from most Long Island residents at this time.
I have noticed that I am having trouble staying in a good mood. That I feel stiff and achy, also lazy. Usually we are having days of 80 degrees with sun. We have YET to have that this June.
I do not ever want to move some where that this is the normal weather. It is just getting to me at this point.
I can not wait for a sunny day.

Baby
I know that this post may not be liked by parents or people trying to have kids. But it is me trying to find my way through some new feelings.
One of our Couple friends had a baby yesterday.
Now this is a married couple that I have been friends with for years. It is my first "friend" with a baby. A true friend, someone who I see often and have been around a long time. I am nervous about being a good friend with this baby around. I am not much a fan for kids or babies. I feel that they are just complicated and not something I want in MY life. I am afraid that I won't feel comfortable around a baby. I would certainly not expect them to change their lives for me. I am just trying to work through my emotions of feeling maybe, out of place in their new roles as parents.
I know that this baby is 2 days old and there are a million of great things ahead of them in their life as a family. However I don't know how this is going to affect my friendship with them. I want to be a good friend, I just know myself to not have patience for children, besides my sisters. I know that a screaming baby drives me up the wall and I do not like to 'ohh and ahh' over children. I am much more fond of Pets.
I am hoping that having this little one around will develop our friendship more. Although, I don't plan on being a mom, so I don't know that this might affect our friendship in the future. I know I won't be the one going to the playground with my child or childproofing my home along with them. I won't understand the pains of toilet training or teething. I would like to do my best to continue our friendship, I hope that I can make a good effort and it be enough to continue our friendship.
This is a totally new role for me to play as a friend and I hope that I can do it right.

29
Today I am 29. I had my birthday yesterday and it was a fantastic weekend.
I relieved my childhood by seeing NKOTB again. This time it was at Jones Beach. The rain cleared up and we had an amazing time. We had great seats, pre-gamed in the Parking lot with White Zin, Subway and Entemann's cookies. The concert was better than the one we saw in the fall at Nassau.
Saturday my husband had a birthday party at the house for me with our friends. It was fun to be home and celebrating. I received a lot of Gift Cards, which are my favorite presents! I had some of my best friends there, so it was perfect.
Sunday I had my Wilton Course 3, Class 3. It was practicing Royal Icing Flowers. Some of which I could hardly do. Not sure if it was the hang over or just the fact that I hate those flowers! Then we went to my Mom's house for a big Italian dinner. It was so good! She made Artichokes, Eggplant Parm, Meatballs and sausage, with fresh Italian Bread and Ice Cream Cake. (nope, I didn't have to make my own cake)
I am excited to be starting a new year. I am married and enjoying life. I have been taking inventory in my life of what is important, or makes me happy and I am going to continue to be true to that. I am re-evaluating my Goals from January and making sure that I am still on track. It is nice to know what you want to achieve and find ways to do so.

Weekend Wrap Up
I participated in my Mom's neighborhood Garage Sale this past weekend. Although I was very tired and not feeling into it when I woke up, I went anyhow. I paid $15 for the spot and made $153.- in 4 hours! I was shocked!! People wanted to buy my old stuff and I sold a lot of it!! It was well worth being there for those few hours.
Sunday I had Course 3, Class 2 of my Wilton Cake Decorating. That went well also. I managed to complete my first Fondant covered Cake. It was a lot of work and I learned some interesting things about using Fondant.

New Kids On The Block
Yup.. you got it. I am blogging about NKOTB.
I saw them a bunch of times back in the late 80's at Nassau Coliseum and at Jones Beach. I was young and in LOVE with Donnie. ::sigh:: I thought he was the best thing EVER. We are talking posters on the wall. Begging my family to tape performances on the VCR when I was in school or it was after my bed time. I had all the merchandise, blanket, pillow cases, sheets, sleeping bag, 6" buttons, water bottles, gum, trading cards, action figures, posters... the list goes on and on.
My love for them is still alive and kicking. When there were rumors about a reunion tour I was the dork watching the Today show when they were performing and announced it. I went to the September 24, 2008 show with my 3 best friends. We had a blast. It was a great show. Now They are coming back around for the Full Service Tour and will be at Jones Beach next week. I have tickets and I can not wait. It will be 2 days before my birthday so it is a gift to myself. I am going with 2 of my friends this time. I am so
Excited that it is almost here!!!

Mom saves the Day
This week I had the pleasure of yet another horrifying trip to the dentist. My bottom left wisdom tooth broke and had to be removed at the oral surgeon. This happen on Monday (memorial day), so I had to wait to the next day to try and get into my dentist office.
Tuesday when I was at work, and desperately trying to get an appointment, my mom called just to check in. After hearing that I was in pain and needed the dentist, she sprung into action offering to drive me there and make sure I was seen. At first I was hesitant thinking I could go on my own, then I realized how much pain I was in. She was a little late picking me up, but she ran me around and made sure to get me there in record time.
Mom brought me to the dentist who could not do the procedure. She then drove to the oral surgeon. I thought she might come after the surgeon when she saw my face/mouth after it was over!
When I was done there, she brought me to the Pharmacy for my prescription and picked up some soup for me. All in all she was with me for about 5 hours, but it made my week.
I was in a lot of pain, but I am so glad she was with me. Every now and then Mom is the best medicine! Sometimes we need to hear 'poor baby' and have a parent hold our hand.

Thoughtful
A friend of the family passed away a few days ago. She was 80 years old. Grandma M. wasn't too close to me. However she was always pleasant and funny. She was a great cook and from what I knew of her, a really great Grandma.
Although she lived a long, exciting, and loving life it is sad to see her gone. What helped their family was that she had already made plans long ago for her funeral. She had an outfit picked and everything for the actual Funeral Home. She had her Will up to date and a listing of items that she wanted distributed to her kids and grandchildren.
To me this was thoughtful of her. They do not have to worry about that kind of stuff and can celebrate her life and just be with their families and also morn her passing. To me she took the steps to insure that it would be an easier process for her family.

Memorial Day Weekend
I am sitting at my desk, at work typing this up. I am bummed that I am working and my hubby is off. However good things are happening at our house right now. Such as the AC being put into the living room and also the bedroom, and the wash is being completed!
I had an exciting weekend. So I should not really complain.
After work on Friday a few friends met up for Happy Hour at Gumpy Jack's in Port Jefferson. We then had everyone back at our house for the evening. It was an impromptu move, but we had a blast.
Saturday, I tried to go to Old Navy for $1. Flip Flops however it was a MAD HOUSE. I left after seeing the line that was averaging up to 2 hour wait. I was thinking to my self - what is this Disney World on spring break!? Forget that.. Greg said he would give me the difference of the sale if I would go back alone and buy them another day. LOL sounds good to me! Saturday night we went to a BBQ at Lisa's house. Unfortunately after about 4 hours we had to leave, I had an awful headache, nearing migraine status. I slept for 11 1/2 hours and it was gone in the morning.
Sunday Greg and I got dirty in the bedroom.. seriously. LOL we cleaned and cleaned then organized and made it habitable! I hemmed our curtains. He hung pictures. We removed the old TV and tossed things that were just not needed. I washed the comforter and sheets, and made a bag of items to donate. Following that we headed to Greenport. There was little to no traffic! I was so happy about that. We ate an early dinner late lunch on the dock at Grumpy Jack's at Claudio's. It was a great afternoon. There was a band playing and intermittently there were Bag Pipers. It was a beautiful day, and did not drizzle till we were almost home!

Wilton Course Goal!
I saw this cake on another blogger's website. She is a Talented cake baker and soon opening her own shop in California. MySweetandSaucy.com is her website.
When I saw this cake this morning I was in love! I would love to make this for my sisters for a pool party this summer! I start Course 3 of Wilton Class in 2 weeks. I am hoping this is do-able by Fourth of July!

How much?
How much is a good time worth?
Last night I had a chance to go out with the girls. We had a chance to talk about a bunch of different topics.. from the way women treat other women, to what we would like to do and where we want to be in life. I was able to see one of my friends homes, that she has recently purchased. I met some one new, and saw some faces I have not seen in a while.
The entire night, including a few beers, 10 cent wings and some fantastic fries cost me $13! That is how much I paid for a great time! We realized as we chatted that some of us just weren't in the mood for going out, hours before and almost cancelled. However we all left in high spirits and happy to have met up.
It is so nice to spend time with people that make you smile, not pay much, and leave full of good food, great beer and plenty of laughs. It was so worth me going to bed a later than usual. Plus spending only a few dollars for a big night was worth it! It doesn't matter how much you spend or where you go.. it is the company you are with.
Thanks to the girls for making me smile!

Goals Update
Well I accomplished a goal for the month. I am actually doing pretty well with goals this month! I have started a second Job, I am now a Tupperware consultant. I can not say if this will be long term yet (as in years). I have some great friends who have booked parties and I am highly excited to give it a shot. I love meeting people and going out and trying new things, so this *should* work out well!
If anyone out there wants to have a party or order some items let me know!

Relaxing Weekend
The weather this weekend wasn't so great, but I made the best of it. I had a really interesting Saturday. I made my way out to Barristers and Book Hampton in Southampton. Lunch at Barrister's was great, I was able to get a street side window seat. I people watched and started a new book. Then I saw Micheal J. Fox and his family while I was sitting there! Here is the only pics that I was able to get.
When I was done walking around Southampton, it was still early so I drove out to East Hampton. I was surprised to see the Coach store was closed, but is moving around the corner. Also the store Hermes (from Paris originally) is opening in it's place. There is also a great store that opened next to the Starbucks in town called Lululemon Athletica. I loved that store. It is basically a yoga studio and store for yoga, running, and dance. I about a new water bottle and yoga mat straps while I was there. I plan on going back. They are a chain so there are other locations. On Sunday at 6pm, they have a free Yoga class.
When Greg was out of work for the day, we went to see Angles & Demons and had dinner. Sunday wasn't too exciting. The weather kept me from driving out to Green Port, so I might next weekend. However I was able to do some grocery shopping and cleaning around the house.

This weekend...
This weekend is a FREE weekend for me. This doesn't happen too often. I have no commitments, such as cake class, family parties, work, etc.. Greg is working both Saturday and Sunday during the day.
So what do I plan on doing? I plan on spending some much needed alone quiet time. I am doing my favorite thing on either Saturday or Sunday, depending on the weather. I am driving out to Southampton, then possibly East Hampton. I love Book Hampton in both towns. It is such a simple yet cozy book store. I will have lunch at Barrister's in Southampton and read. Then walk around the towns.
I can not explain how HAPPY I am to know I am about to do this, this weekend- Before the Memorial to Labor Day crowds come.

Mother's Day
Meet my Mom, Debbie. We sometimes butt head, but we are very close. We are a lot alike in our personalities. I tend to be more out going and more social then she was, or at least that is what she tells me. I have a lot of respect for her. She raised me as a single parent when I was young. Now she has given me two sisters with my step-dad. My mom has taught me about self respect, responsibility and love.
Thanks Mom.

Goals
So I picked 4 goals for April. I thought that it would be a good idea to make some goals, post them and then see how I follow through. Well April wasn't such a good month for these goals... But there is always next time.
1. Get to the gym a minimum of 2 days a week
This was not completed! I really had a hard time getting there.
2. Transfer money from my paycheck weekly into my personal savings account
I did this and then had some car issues. So that money was used
3. Empty & organize the spare bedroom closet
This was DONE!!! Yay! We got rid of some items that were just taking up space.
4. Read 3 books (2 for book club and 1 personal reading choice)
I did this! I liked most of them, and have reviewed the books on my Book List Blog
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
The Pact
The Red Tent

Rangers Game 7 Tonight
Rangers are playing the seventh Game of Round 1 of the playoffs tonight. Now they should have already been done with this series twice, but some bad skating, shooting and defense killed that. Tonight I will be home with my husband and maybe a few friends to watch Game 7. FINGERS CROSSED!!! LETS GO RANGERS!

What a week!
Greg and I took a 3 day trip to the MGM Grand at Foxwoods, then to Boston, Mass., last week. It was great to get away and almost disconnect from reality. We were lucky that Thursday and Friday we had beautiful weather.
We went to a NY Rangers Viewing Party at Foxwoods and lost $45. gambling. However we are not used to being around all the cigarettes smoke, which although we had a smoke free room, it lingered through our air vents. ((yuck!))
In Boston we toured some of our favorite shopping spots. We had lunch outside on a street corner, and went to a Contemporary Art Museum, so that Greg could see one of his favorite artist works. We ended the day at Tommy Doyle's, a bar in Harvard Square for some amazing fish.
Saturday we came back home. Driving for 5 hours through the rain, just was not fun. LOL. We were home for Easter and were able to see both of our families. Also, we dressed up my car for the holiday!

April Goals
At the start of the year most people including myself make resolutions and goals. I have re-visited the goals I set for the year and thought about what I have seen on another blog: TheWorkingWomansGuidetoDomesticSuccess.blogspot.com
This blogger has monthly goals and task for her home. She re-visits these goals at the end of the months to see what was accomplished or unfinished, then starts new goals for the following month.
I decided to adapt that to my life and blog and give myself some goals to work at.
1. Get to the gym a minimum of 2 days a week
2. Transfer money from my paycheck weekly into my personal savings account
3. Empty & organize the spare bedroom closet
4. Read 3 books (2 for book club and 1 personal reading choice)
Simple, yet easy beginning goals.

Course 1 - Class 3
I am surprised on how much I have enjoyed going to the cake class weekly. It is interesting! I learned to make some clowns and a new flower today. I have some practicing to do this week on the base of the "wilton rose". I have been utilizing all the coupons in the newspaper over the past 3 weeks for either 40% or 50% all the items I have purchased for the class. I also signed up for Course 2 which starts in April, and last 4 weeks.

B.L.O.N.D.E
It is a task that takes about 3 hours, and a bit of cash... but I leave and am set for 3 months. I had my hair done at my favorite salon today. I stay off my phone, and read and relax while it is being done. I get to chat with my stylist/colorist and enjoy the beautiful salon. I am back to bright blonde, and had a trim. Great way to start the weekend.

Spinach & Artichoke Braid
1 can (14oz) artichoke hearts in water, drained and chopped
1 pkg (10oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well drained
1 cup (4oz) shredded mozzarella cheese
1 pkg (4oz) crumbled feta cheese
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 garlic clove, pressed
2 T (1/2 oz) grated fresh Parmesan cheese
2 8 oz cans refrigerated crescent rolls
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In classic batter bowl combine
all but Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
2. Scoop filling evenly over desired shape; finish shape as directed below.
Sprinkle w/grated Parmesan cheese Bake 25-30
minutes or until golden brown. Serves 8
To make the braid:
Unroll 2 8 oz pkgs refrigerated crescent rolls - separate into 16
triangles. Arrange triangles, slightly overlapping, in a Christmas tree shape on large bar pan. (Points will extend off the edge of the baking stone). Press the seams together using your hand or roller. Using large scoop, scoop the filling evenly over dough in continuous circle. Bring points of triangles up over filling cross over to make a braid design. If you have an extra piece of crescent roll left over (or two) that’s okay.
Book Signing
I went to Barnes & Nobles in Lake Grove last night for a book signing with Adriana Trigiani. I only heard of her when I saw her on The Today Show a few weeks back. She was intelligent and funny, Adriana caught my attention and I picked up her first new book, "Very Valentine". I have reviewed this book on my other Book List Blog. I found her style of writing and wording entertaining. I then read another of her books "Lucia, Lucia" (mainly because it is mentioned in Very Valentine).
So with them both in hand I went to her book signing. I was lucky enough to get a seat in the front row. I had a great time. She told stories about her family, and the characters who are based on people she knows. Adriana answered questions from the crowd (which seemed to be over 150 people). I really enjoyed my night. It was great to meet the author and talk to other woman about what they read and recommend.

Not a dream after all-
Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and Greg was sleeping. I was so content knowing that we are married and this is my life. I am a lucky girl. We are a lucky couple. A lot of people think they are in love..but it doesn't last or is lust instead of love. I hope they can one day have what I have with Greg.

A busy Weekend
I had a great weekend! Friday night I stayed home and Greg and I had a couple of our good friends over. While Greg hung out and played some video games, I made the cake I needed for my cake decorating class.
Saturday, Greg and I cleaned up the house in the morning. Then we went to a birthday party for Greg's Grandma. I let him stay over there, while I came home and got ready for my Pampered Chef party. I had 14 girls over and we had a bunch of snack food, and wine.
Sunday, besides grocery shopping.. I went to my second cake decorating class at Michael's. I am learning basic cake decorating with icing. There are 2 more classes in this course. I have 4 other women in my class and the instructor. So here is a picture of me and my first cake. I have a lot to learn, but I have learned some great tips and tricks already.

My new favorite-
Greek-Style Stuffed Peppers
1 lb Lean ground beef
10 oz package Chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
1 medium Zucchini, coarsly grated
1 small onion, minced
1 egg, lightly beated
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
Fresh Ground pepper
3 Red Bell Peppers, halved lengthwise, cleaned and cored
2 - 14oz cans low sodium stewed tomatoes
1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
Pre heat oven to 350
In bowl combine the beef, spinach, zucchini, onion, egg, oregano, salt and a few grinds of pepper. Mix until throughly combined
Fill peppers with the meat mixture, place halved side up in a 9x13 baking dish. Pour the tomatoes over the peppers and sprinkle with the feta cheese. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and and bake until meat fully cooked (about 25 minutes longer).
Goals.
These were my Goals for 2009, as stated in a previous post in January.
1. Become more in control of my Finances
2. Be accountable for having my own savings
3. Cook at home more, prepare food for lunches for Greg and I
4. Manage my time better
5. Become healthier, both physically and mentally
6. Take classes in things that interest me
7. Do more Charitable things, donate my time
8. Plan a vacation for Greg and I (not the wedding in Fl for October)
I am happy to say that I am really keeping up on all but the last 2, (so far)! I have not planned a vacation because we decided to use that money to pay off some bills and we are going to wait till we have more in our savings. I have not been as charitable as I can. However, instead of giving up something for lent- I will be making a donation to an charity. I think it is a better solution. Also I am looking into working my Chuch Soup Kitchen when it resumes.

It is lovely not hearing the sound of a phone ringing or someone trying to get my attention. It is nice not to hate it when I hear my phone go off. I think i might leave it off more often.

Rangers Game!
We went to the Rangers vs. Panthers game on Thursday. Greg bought seats in section 101. We had a former MTV VJ sitting the row in front of us. Her name is Karen Duff, she went by Duffy on MTV in the early 90's. He son was the kid who rode the Zamboni in during the 2nd intermission. Unfortunately the Rangers did lose.
