2009 Resolution Recap

With 2009 coming to close, I want to look back on the Resolutions I made for the year.

1. Become more in control of my Finances
- I have moved my Loan for my car into my own name, and paid off ALL other credit cards

2. Be accountable for my own Savings
- My savings is almost non-existent, that is something I really need to continue to work on

3. Cook at home more, prepare food for lunches for Greg and I
- I defiantly did a great job with this! I made a lot of new dishes and kept up on grocery shopping and cooking.

4. Manage my time better
- I have accomplished this and made time for a lot of new things

5. Become healthier, both physically and mentally
- In many ways I have done this. I am very happy and continuing with becoming more physically healthy

6. Take classes that interest me
- I took 16 weeks of Baking / cake decorating classes and also joined a book club

7. Do more charitable things, donate my time
I can do more in this area, and I have some goals for 2010 in this aspect of my life

8. Plan a vacation for Greg and I (not wedding in FL)
We did not go to the Florida wedding, we did go to Florida with my parents and little sisters instead. We also made it to Boston for a couple of days.

December, O how I love thee!

I am in a great mood, it is the holiday season! I love it! I love to see all the decorations, the Christmas music on the radio, the hustle and bustle. To me, this is my favorite time of year.
I have almost completed all of my holiday shopping and it is ALL wrapped up! I just need to finish shopping for my husband. He is the hardest person to shop for at times, because he tends to buy what he likes through out the year and changes his mind on what he wants often.
I have started my holiday baking last night and accomplished a good chunk of what I wanted to do! I am going to make plenty of cookies for not only my family, but to give to my church for their holiday dinner. I dropped off 6 platters of cookies for their Thanksgiving dinner and they were a huge hit.
I have decided not to make any official December goals, as I want to really think about what I want to do for the following year with my goals / resolutions. I have enjoyed posting my goals, because although they are not all completed each month, it is a good reminder of what I would like to do and keeps me honest with myself.
So here is the November Goal Recap:
1. Get to the Gym at least 21 days this month
I did not get to the Gym 21 days, but I did do a great deal of working out and eating healthy resulting in losing 8lbs this month! DONE!
2. Make a dent in Christmas Shopping
I didn't make a dent, I almost finished it in November!
3. Ebay! Ebay! Ebay!
Does purchasing gifts off Ebay count? LOL. Not done, I didn't sell anything!
4. Organize Craft Supplies
I am 50 / 50 on this one. I got some done, but not all
5. Read 3 books
Busy month with everything else and I read 1 book.

Up for the Challenge?

Last night I had dinner with 2 girlfriends. One just finished her fifth (I think) 5K. I was impressed and congratulated her. She turned and said to me, "Do the next one with me." I was flabbergasted. I have always admired the people who can do 5K, half and full marathons, never expecting myself to be a part of that crowd. I said that I would seriously think about it, and to let me know the details.
So am I up for the challenge... I hope so! I would like to do it, and think that the motivation to be able to do it will help me continue on my weight loss journey.

On the Hunt

The hunt has begun.
My husband and I have started to browse for a home. We have been renting together for over 3 years and we are looking to make that next step. I have been searching Real Estate listings and sites, and trying to see what our dollar is going to get us on Long Island. We love it here and do not want to leave it, but it is so tempting to move out of state where we could get more for less, (or at least about the same).
We went to 3 homes this weekend for a viewing. If I could have run out screaming from one of them I would have. There are A LOT of great things to be said about someone who rescues Greyhounds, but not for the home they were showing. 3 Dogs, 2 adults and numerous cats in this small location did not go over well on my senses, especially my sense of smell.
We encountered another home where they rented out each individual room to 4 different college students, and let me tell you, they are NOT a clean bunch. The last home was fairly nice, however the asking price exceeded what you were actually getting.
I will continue to look and hunt and send links to my husband. We will find something that is right for us. I just have a feeling it is going to take some time.

Happy Halloween!

I have come to realize I like ALL holidays! I love to hear the music, or just decorate! The pictrue above was created by my hubby, "Thug Kim". LOL

So far I have no plans except for spending time with my little sisters tomorrow. I do not have a costume and I am bummed! Bummed enough, that I might *try* and find one on my lunch today. My home is dressed up (inside) for Halloween. I would do the outside, but we rent and I can not. Boooo! I am sitting at work and listening to a 'spooky Halloween' playlist on my iPod. LOL I can not wait to see what tomorrow brings. Then it is time to take down the Halloween decor and put up the Fall / Thanksgiving items.

I have way too many decorations for individual holidays, and I am a sucker for stores that have Holiday related merchandise. Lately as I have expanded my cooking skills and have been trying lots of new things, I find myself flipping through magazines of holiday food items. I feel like quiet the little housewife.
